Eight Swimming Twitter Accounts I Inadvertently Followed

swimming on twitter

1. Swimming with Sharks @swsDC Good girls kiss n’ tell. Follow J and her friends as they date and relate in Washington, DC. – NOT what I had in mind.

2. Swim Party @swimparty Indie rock band whose songs are as pretty as their lights. – Hmm, cool viking-hat-wearing profile pic.

3. Midnight Swimming @Mdnightswimming Midnight Swimming is a digital and vinyl independent record label. – Too dark to tweet.

4. Halloween Swim Team @hstmusic Self described Synth Post Punkers? – I was so excited by the title – then so let down by yet another swimming band fake-out.

5. Adult Swim @adultswim Cartoon Network program – Ok this one I already followed advertently.

6. Swim Design @swimdesign 1 follower, 1 following, no description? – I mean, we could all use some design.

7. Swimming @swimming Tweets: 1 – Not fair! They’re bogarting the account name and not even using it!

8. ???/Atsushi/Smile @diving I like…dance(house, hiphop, lock),darts, diving – He likes diving, his profile picture is of urinals, and I don’t speak Japanese – so we’ll have to stop there.

Kast-A-Way Blog Makes SwimmingWorld.TV Blog Of The Week

Shawn Klosterman, the man behind the myth on The Screaming Viking!, has been writing the Blog of the Week series for SwimmingWorld.TV since October 1st. This week, Shawn mentioned Kast-A-Way Blog in a very flattering article. It’s always nice to be appreciated – especially by someone who really gets it when it comes to my style and humor.

Shawn and I have a lot in common. He’s written his share of satirical blog humor, can appreciate a good blog fight, and has a place in his heart for comic book characters.

Aside from the Blog of the Week, be sure to check out all of SwimmingWorld.TV’s special features, including: The Morning Swim Show, Split Time, and more!

U.S. Duel In The Pool Team Announced, And Wary Of British Talent

Although the Duel In The Pool teams have not been announced on the official website, the U.S. line-up is already available from a press release posted on Swimming World. The star-studded roster will take on a European team comprised of 6 men and women from Great Britain, Italy, and Germany.

An article from BBC Sports via @reezy_daily quotes Ryan Lochte as saying:

“It’s not just the US against Australia any more, Great Britain has been coming up and I know the US is watching out for them.”

It’s true that Great Britain, Italy, and Germany have had some breakthrough performances in the past 4 years – however, the United States took 11 gold medals in the recent World Championships, and has the depth to take on the top 3 European countries’ all-star team.

Photo from morethanthegames.co.uk, check out their swimming tab for more British swimming news.

The British team is good, but don’t get ahead of yourself BBC Sports.

Debbie Phelps Tells GreatSchools.net About Michael’s Early Education

debbie phelps

Susan sent me a copy of the GreatSchools.net weekly newsletter. This week’s feature: a two page interview with Debbie Phelps on the topic Michael Phelps’ early education.

Both Debbie and Michael are very open about the fact that Michael has AD/HD. Here’s her view on how Michael, or any child with AD/HD, can manage the challenges:

“While Michael can hyper-focus on subjects and activities he finds interesting, with other subjects, he tunes out, drifts off, or becomes restless. An observant teacher will notice that and help him stay on task using simple techniques. And when a child needs to move around or wiggle, as is true for many kids with AD/HD, there are ways to accommodate that. After all, how many of us adults can comfortably sit still at a desk for long periods of time without taking a break to stand up, stretch, and walk around?” (source)

Read the full two-page interview at GreatSchools.net. Debbie Phelps’ recent memoir A Mother for All Seasons is currently available in hardcover.

Blog Shout Out: Phelps Phive And Phriends

michael phelps phive and phriends

The Phelps Phive And Phriends have been sharing their mutual enthusiasm for Michael Phelps since September 4, 2008. From the description on their Facebook Group: “It all began on Thursday September 4, 2008 on Michael Phelps’ fan page wall” when Annabel, Priya, and Amber wrote on Michael Phelps’ wall, and he replied “Hey guys. Thanks for all the comments (like Annabel’s)!” – effectively giving Annabel the title Queen of the Wall.

Like the Charlie’s Angels of Michael Phelps, the Phelps Phive have been blogging, YouTubing, and Tweeting as phriends ever since. Check out the Phelps Phive and Phriends on Blogger at http://phelpsphive.blogspot.com
