It's also crucial that children learn to swim - nothing is more heartbreaking than seeing teenagers at a pool or beach frolicking in the shallow water because they don't know how to swim. These are the people who will panic in a real water emergency, and possibly drown! Everybody must know how to swim! There can't be any exceptions! Water safety isn't just about swimming, though. Too many people seem to think that jet-skis are for swamping canoes and kayaks, for example. People need to be aware of safety issues for watercraft and observe them!
