
The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has been increasing in popularity, and the 2011 season looks to be bigger than ever! Qualification for the 2011 World Series is taking place in Sydney, Australia, on January 14-15, but the tour dates for the next season have already been set!

Haha yeah right! I’d love to go watch though. I went to the Red Bull Soap Box Derby in Cincinnati and it was a blast, I bet the Cliff Diving event has a lot going on.
Hmm I have mixed feelings about doing such a competition after dark. Isn’t it already dangerous enough in daylight?
Don’t the competitors risk being disoriented in floodlight?
It sounds more dangerous, but that makes it exciting! In terms of being able to “spot” the entry, the lights might actually make it helpful to know which way is down. The most difficult scenario is when the water and sky look the same. My guess is they’ll point the lights at the surface of the water so the divers can see it. An all-black sky as a background will be a good contrast, so they should see just fine.
