Think you’re getting pretty comfortable in your swim fins? No amount of waddling around on a pool deck will prepare you to set the world record for 100m hurdles while wearing swim fins. The latest records posted include some sufficiently mind-blowing times, and I was disappointed that there are no accompanying videos for these records!
Veronica Torr set the women’s swim fin 100m hurdle world record in a time of 19.278 seconds. Normally, she’s a national level hurdler in New Zealand, but apparently has a special talent for sprinting in fins. Compare that time to Veronica’s personal best in the 100m hurdle without fins (14.18 seconds) and it gives you some idea of just how fast she’s moving.
The men’s record for the same event was set by Christopher Irmscher of Germany in a time of 14.82 seconds.
