Remember that giant swimming sculpture from a previous post? I found some more photos of it on Flickr, and the big guy even has a ‘tattoo’ advertisement for the TV show London Ink.

And look, there’s a giant sculpture of a lady… lying down… with her head in a photobooth? Don’t ask me, but she’s also got the London Ink tattoo promoting a TV show on Discovery Channel.

It looks like these pictures are from 2007, so I’m not even sure if the sculptures are still there. I just found these online because, well, I don’t live in London.

Getty Images swept the 2009 National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Best of Photojournalism awards in the Sports Journalism of the Year category for Still Photos. The top three awards went to Quinn Rooney (Getty Images AsiaPac), Al Bello (Getty Images), and Cameron Spencer (Getty Images).

There were a lot of great shots of aquatic sports from these top three finishers, which I’ve linked to in thumbnail montage style below. If I was a world class photographer, I would definitely look to sports like swimming and diving because of their natural beauty.

Here’s a screen shot of various stages in PhotoShop. As you can see, lots of color adjusting to make it look more epic and cool. The original photo came from the US Navy SEALS when they spent the day whipping the USA Swimming national team into shape.
